Creating a design from geometric shapes

Following on from warp effects, another 2020 design trend I recently learned about is geometric shapes. I took the opportunity to make an abstract design with circles and get a little bit more proficient at Adobe Illustrator.

A collection of circles and parts of circles to create an abstract design.

This design was fun and easy to make. I copied and pasted a circle, used the shape builder tool to cut out sections, and changed the color, opacity, and size. The grid system made everything line up properly. It’s abstract now, but I could really envision creating representations of real-world objects using the same process, for a logo or an icon.
